The Jurors: By Category

“Multiple publishers have approached me about doing a book, and the feedback from Critical Mass jurors helped me tailor my edit for contests and a book dummy. Thank you!”
—Theo Stroomer

“Because of entering Critical Mass I received a gallery show at Blue Sky Gallery this December. Just a couple of years ago I would have never dreamed of this opportunity – so thanks, Critical Mass!”
—Calvin Chen

Every year, we strive to build a Critical Mass jury that represents a wide cross section of the photo world. We enlist 200 professionals from galleries, museums, publishing houses, magazines, nonprofits, festivals (and beyond) to weigh in on participating photographers’ images. We want to give photographers the chance to share their work with a diversity of industry professionals – folks who are poised to offer a rich variety of career-building opportunities. As we’ve seen every year, Critical Mass is an instrumental platform for photographers looking to get their work out there. We thought we’d break down the juror list to illustrate how strong the representation is in each of the core categories of the photo world. Read on, below.

And remember – Critical Mass is currently open for entries! Read the success stories, check out the entry details, and start your engines! The entry deadline is July 19th at noon Pacific Time.
