The 2026 Critical Mass finalists will receive extraordinary opportunities for visibility, exhibition, publication, and professional recognition across the international photography community.
The 2026 Critical Mass Top 50 exhibition will be presented at the Los Angeles Center of Photography from June 3 – July 17, 2027, offering finalists the opportunity to exhibit their work at one of fine art photography’s leading contemporary venues. An opening is scheduled for Saturday, June 5th from 3 – 5 pm.
Top 200 finalists will receive 50% off their first year of membership to LACP.
One artist will be selected for a solo exhibition with PH21 Gallery in Barcelona in October 2027 and will receive the Michael Reichmann Grant, a $3,000 award to support travel and exhibition expenses.

Big Picture Colorado will select two artists for special curatorial recognition.
A $1,600 scholarship toward one Maine Media Workshops workshop—either on campus or online—will be awarded to one finalist. Maine Media generously sponsors this opportunity in support of continued artistic growth and education.
Celebrating compelling artist statements that deepen and elevate the photographic work, this award recognizes excellence in writing alongside visual storytelling. Four finalists will be recognized, with two artists highlighted each week. Former students are ineligible for consideration.
Selected artists will be interviewed by Michael Kirchoff, editor of Catalyst: Interviews, offering additional exposure through respected photography publications and platforms.
Selected photographers will be featured in a special issue curated by Co-Managing Editors, Leo Hsu and Bree Lamb.
