We are so excited to finally be planning towards our in-person festival event to take place April 21-23, 2022 at the beautiful Jupiter NEXT Hotel in Portland, OR. 75 photographers at the mid-career level will receive an average of 12 one-on-one meetings with the reviewers of their choice over the 3-day event and each review session lasts for 25 minutes. It’s a great way to network with both reviewers and peers. Numerous photographers have walked away with opportunities to exhibit, publish, and sell their work after attending the Portfolio Reviews. REVIEWERS

The in-person Portfolio Reviews are the heart of the Photolucida festival. This year, 25 gallery owners, curators, editors, photo festival directors, and publishers representing small, mid-sized, and major venues gather in Portland to review work over the 3-day festival. LOCATION

This year, the Reviews event will take place at the fabulous Jupiter Next Hotel, a gorgeous new-build hotel with an open and bright layout and immediate access to a private outdoor area. Photolucida’s group with be taking over the entire hotel, we’ve already reserved all rooms for our event! Head here for a 360 degree view of the event space!

AUXILIARY EVENTS

In addition to the primary Reviews appointments, Photolucida provides an informal meeting room with “roving” reviewers who look at work and give feedback and potential opportunities. Bring a brownbag lunch and sit in on the “Lunchtime Chats”, daily talks from luminaries in the photography world.  A Portfolio Walk at the Portland Art Museum is organized for participants and is always embraced enthusiastically by the Portland public – this year because of the reduced numbers of photographers we’ll be able to spread out the tables and aisles a bit, allowing for more elbow room than in previous years. We’ll also have a super fun closing party on Saturday evening, utilizing the lovely Secret Garden space at Jupiter Next. DETAILS

All registrants will be vetted and notified early October. Please do not register if you are not prepared to take a spot. If you feel you may be interested down the line, ask to be added to our wait list!

The $950 payment can be made via credit card or check. A payment plan is available. Check your regional Arts and Culture Council’s grant opportunities. Attending Photolucida is considered “Professional Development” and often there are grants available for artists.

Along with planning a great event, our primary concern is the health of all our participants. If deemed unrealistic to hold this event in-person, Plan B is an online version (in which a partial refund will be made), and if event is cancelled totally, photographers will be refunded in full. All participants will be required to show proof of COVID vaccination history.
