The next Portfolio Reviews will be held April 14-17, 2011. Registration will open on September 8, 2010 at 9am, West Coast time, and will remain open for 24 hours. Cost for attending the four-day event is $825. Please read the information below thoroughly before registering!

This year Photolucida will be using a lottery system to determine attendance. How does this work?

  1. Register any time during the 24 hour period beginning September 8 at 9am.
  2. Photolucida will run all names through a lottery system, and 155 spots will be assigned.
  3. On September 14, Photolucida will notify you via e-mail if your name is chosen and send a link to the payment page. You will have 3 days to make the payment.
  4. All people not initially chosen will be placed on the wait list in the order that they registered!

What are the in-person Portfolio Reviews?

The In-Person Portfolio Reviews are the heart of the Photolucida 2011 festival. Gallery owners, curators, critics, collectors and publishers representing small, mid-sized, and major venues from all over the US and abroad, gather in Portland to review work.

Photographers at the mid-career level register for one-on-one meetings with the reviewers of their choice. Each review session lasts for 20 minutes and we limit the number of participants to assure that everyone receives 4 or 5 reviews per day for four days. It's a great way to network. Numerous photographers have walked away with opportunities to exhibit, publish and sell their work after attending the Portfolio Reviews.

Level of Work Expected at Portfolio Reviews

Photolucida does not jury it’s Portfolio Reviews, but we strive to keep the level of work of participants high. Participants should be mid-career fine-art photographers, with a recent history of exhibitions and/or publication. For a good reference of where your work should be professionally, please look at the work of artists in Critical Mass Top 50. While Photolucida does not jury, we do reserve the right to limit acceptance to participants who meet these criteria.

Photographer's Master Index

All participants (both reviewers and photographers) will receive a printed Photographer's Master Index. The index will include contact information for each photographer, along with a full color large thumbnail image representative of each participant's work.
