Good Times They still exist, those little bars in Vienna, Austria, where time seems to have stopped. If you pass by, you hear loud laughter through the half open door – and only very few walk in. But if you enter, it’s very likely that you’ll leave unscathed. People drink, smoke, laugh, dance, cry and talk. Daily grind and high drama go hand in hand. For many, these are the only places they have somebody to talk to. Once you’ve joined the family, you stick together and drink together – the whole day, every day… The only sign betraying the ravages of time is people dying. And with them, these drinking dens. Photographer Klaus Pichler and journalist Clemens Marschall went on a mission to document the last of these refuges for a dying drinking generation. 'Good Times' is a swan song for these bars that have shaped their customers’ existences for decades, places that are soon to disappear forever.
